My project tries to adapt classic personal food supply inventories for the modern age. For this I developed a kitchen unit that not only keeps track of its inventory but also supports the user in preventing food waste.

Based on microchips integrated into the plastic containers, the system knows where the products are located and how much of each is still available as they are automatically weighed.

A lighting-based guiding system aids the user in finding certain products. Alongside the kitchen unit a connected mobile application informs the user about suited seasonal products and can be connected with the user’s health apps to support a healthy, sustainable nutrition.

Additionally, the application allows to keep track of the inventory when being on the go. The plastic containers are in four practical sizes that allow to reduce the chaos. The goal of the project is to make food supply inventories fun again.
