Giftbox designers Wrappu launch in Munich, questioning why we put so much thought into the gift itself, yet so little into how we present it.

When we want to give a great gift we put a lot of thought into it. In the case of a loved one, we want to find something to say “You are special”. With a professional colleague or in-laws we may want to impress with our taste. When the stakes are so high, why then do we just shove these gifts into paper and wrap them like a sandwich? Furthermore, why don’t we wrap gifts that excite the receiver with colour, unusual form and the haptic of beautiful paper?

Munich-based designers Micha Kumpf and Ngaire Wex stopped to ask this and came up with the concept of Wrappu, beautifully designed giftboxes that come in a range of sizes and shapes. The inspiration for making delightful gift packaging comes from their travels to Japan, where product packaging and presentation is given utmost respect and consideration. As designers, they feel it’s not just what you give, it’s also how you present it. Today they are excited to have their first batch of Wrappus hot off the renewable-energy powered press and to be sending out first orders to excited customers and paper lovers around the world. Best of all they come flat, so postage is super economical.
