The Typographische Gesellschaft München is a designer’s club founded in 1874 and offers a wide range of voluntary organzied courses, seminars and excursions. One of the highlights is the lecture series, which has brought design celebrities like Stefan Sagmeister, Eike König, Mirko Borsche, Mario Lombardo, Erik Spiekerman, Paula Scher, Ruedi Baur, Fons Hickmann, Amir Kassaei, Joachim Sauter, Oliviero Toscani, Niklaus Troxler, Gerard Unger, Kurt Weidemann and many more on stage throughout the years.

Committed to his role as the chairman of the club, Rafael Bernardo pulled about every button for the 200 paged yearbook 2017. He created the typeface “Crypto” (using the elements triangle, square and circle of the logo) and used “only” the special colors gold, glowing pink and royal blue to enrich the typographic layout with many functional and playful details. The yearbook has been refined by a digitally applied color edge printing (statement with 50 lines/books in 35 colorvariations) and a magnetic hardcover that can be disconnected and reconnected, which provides the individual choice between two different cover designs.

This project has only been possible thanks to the support of the people at Kösel Druck (printing and binding — special mention Wolfgang Diesch for the production consulting), the austrian manufacturer at Salzer Paper and the design supporters Catherine Avak and Thomas Pruss.
