Who likes traveling to mystical places?
You do? Well, why don’t you do it? I guess the same problem puts a halt to your plans as it does to mine- lack of money and time. Well, I know a way of evading both. How to do that? No, you don’t have to log on to any online role-playing game. It is much easier! Simply lay back and start your “Journey to a new world”.
What is this trip about?
“Journey to a new world” is the final dissertation project by Heiko Winter. The journey which Heiko allows you to be taken on is on the one hand a captivating experience into a new world; and on the other hand his personal journey to a world in which filming and motion graphics have joint.
What is the idea behind it?
Based on an already existing collection for the Levi´s Jeans retail store a commercial concept was created by Heiko. The idea is to integrate different short-movies in an interactive window-shop concept through combining motion graphics and filming.
How was the idea put into practice?
After 3 month of working on his graduate project he came up with 4 individual short movies which were realized at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, Germany. Based on the idea of combining motion graphics and filming a master plan was shaped which gives each of these four short movies its individual touch.
What is so fascinating about these clips?
The combination of these 4 short-movies serves as a docking station for a ‘Journey to a new world’ – Each of these clips takes the viewer on a fantastic journey. Simply through watching the clips the viewer starts feeling and emphasizing with the character. This in turn allows him to find his place in one of these four individual worlds.
What is new?
The atmosphere created is simply unique- it allows the viewer to identify himself with the different lifestyles depicted as well as to move between new fascinating worlds. This possibility connected with the blend of virtual reality and reality can only be described as a captivating journey- truly a “Journey to a new world”.
