Einreichungen

Firm, spacious and clear, Weymann Serif draws on typographic tradition while carving a voice of its own. Contemporary and classical, bracketed serifs nod toward manuscripts while an open structure brings editorial grace and stonecut clarity.

Weymann Serif is a typeface for text meant to last, to be read not just once, but well. Drawing its breath from the hand, it speaks with the composure of type. Beyond its typographic discipline, rational and precise, lies a meditation on the act of writing, refined, balanced and without flourish. Weymann Serif performs without performance, engaging eye and page quietly and unmistakably.

Expressive without extravagance, Weymann Serif’s character is clearest in larger sizes. Wide letterforms and open counters give it lucidity in headings and footnotes. Comfortable at small sizes and expansive in display, where its subtle details; the dance of curve and serif, the tension between sharp and round; come to life. Its strokes are gentle yet deliberate. Its shapes are composed, not cold.

Weymann Serif’s exceptional legibility reflects that it was designed and made for reading.  It is balanced and unflappable in books, journals, catalogues and essays; at ease in modern editorial work; and on the cover of a traditional volume you return to again and again.

With six weights, from Regular to Black, Weymann Serif includes a slightly darker Book cut for extended reading. With sharpened contours to preserve legibility and narrow proportions, the Bolder weights retain clarity at small sizes and assert without overstepping. The Italics provide distinction without disruption: a subtle slope of 9º, slimmer width and written fluidity complement the Roman in structure and tone. Small caps, appropriate punctuation, and subscript figures and letters are a natural part of its typographic tool set.
